Texas to California….a Travelling Adventure

Isabella and I arrived in California Saturday evening safe and sound. The flight and airport experience were totally fine (by God’s grace) despite a crazy and unfortunate departure. Here is the story:

Clint dropped Bella and me off at the airport and helped us out until he said goodbye to us at security. All was fine up until Clint’s departure and then it went down hill. After standing in the security line for 15 minutes the TSA guard at the front of the cue informed me that I needed a pass for Bella to get through security. Wouldn’t you think the ticket agent at the Southwest counter would issue me said pass while I spent 10 minutes checking in with him? So I was sent back to the Southwest ticket counter where I stood in line for 20 minutes to be issued a pass for Bella. At this point the extra time I had alloted to wait to pre-board is dwindling. The nice lady at the counter then sent me back to the security line for my 25 minute wait to meet the same TSA agent and give her Bella’s pass. At this point I am starting to worry because they had announced that pre-boarding had begun for my flight.

I get onto the nearly full plane and realize that the open seating arrangement is forcing me to sit in a middle seat. I suck it up, take a seat between two middle aged women and settle in ready to feed Bella for the take off. As we taxi out to the runway Bella unleashes quite the blow-out. Now I start to panic. It is the first time in my life I have ever had to make the decision as to whether or not I should clean up poop then, or wait until we were cruising. Praise the Lord for the very nice woman to my left on the aisle who assisted me in cleaning up my daughter and changing her before we took off. At this point I am laughing at God’s dynamic ability to humble me. God gave me grace for the moment and I was blessed with a very easy baby on the rest of my flights. I didn’t know I had multiple flights until I landed in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I didn’t have to de-plane but I did not know previous to my captain’s announcement that the flight stopped in New Mexico before going to LAX.
