The Flower Wedding Connection
Clint and I are now somewhat far removed from the seemingly small circle of Master’s Alumnae that encompassed our lives in California. We definitely enjoyed that season of our lives but are very content to be away from it and living here in Texas. Without much foresight we seemed to be in yet another form of a Master’s Alumnae circle but most of the people that have connections to TMC here in Texas I did not know while I was at Masters. Well worlds collided last Friday in the form of Stephanie Honett and Tyler Flower’s wedding.
Clint and the Honett family go way back, pre-Masters, through Stonebriar Community Church. The Honett family still attends as do Clint’s parents. Clint and Sarah Jane were once on High School staff at the church over Stephanie. So we have a ton of connections through Stonebriar. Sarah Jane and then Stephanie both went to Masters as did Clint and I so there are the Masters connections as well. Those two worlds colliding have always been interesting and fun and generally resulting in long nights of talking and chocolate chip cookies. It got more interesting for the wedding when Shay Thomason was requested by Tyler and Stephanie to come out and do some candid photography of their wedding. Shay is married to my Best Friend Bethany who I have known since we went to Bible School in England together. Tyler, Shay and Bethany were on High School staff together at Placerita Baptist Church. To add yet another person to the random assembly of connections is our friend Adam Powell. Adam is currently attending Dallas Theological Seminary and attending our church here in Grapevine. (Well technically he is currently in India pursuing God’s direction for his life in long term missions; but that is besides the point.) Adam grew up in Santa Clarita and his home church is Church of the Canyons where Stephanie Honett has attended since she moved out to California.
So all of these fabulous people descended upon Dallas for the wedding and it resulted in one of the most unique and quality fellowship of believers I have encountered in a very long time. We all hung out at the Honett’s till 1 am just talking. It is amazing where God has taken many of these people in the short amount of time since we all graduated. It was even more encouraging to hear that they were all still fervently pursuing the Lord and his plan for their lives. Many of them (including ourselves) now have children. All were active in some form of ministry. Many are taking career paths that they didn’t foresee in college. We were all there to celebrate the union of Stephanie and Tyler, but our greater unifying factor was the saving grace of Jesus Christ and the active role he plays in our day-to-day lives. As tired as I was when we left that evening I was earnestly grateful for the time we spent with friends and the beautiful picture we saw of the global body of Christ interacting.

P.S. Blake Boys had a fabulous quote that evening. While sitting in this room of random people who are all obscurely connected he made this comment, “Wow, I feel like I know you all because I read all of your blogs.” It turns out that we are all blog stalkers and can thank Sam Neylan’s blog for keeping not only friends connected, but obscurely acquainted friends connected as well.

it’s the least I can do…to whom much is given, MUCH is required.
the body of Christ really is remarkable in nature. Thanx for noting it and loving it!

[...] I flew to Dallas, Texas to help some friends out with some photography and pretty much hang with a bunch of other friends (lots more details about those friends here). At any rate, the above photos are like a preview of the shots I was able to grab while there. [...]
